Upper Milford Supervisors Discuss Whether to Dump Trucks

The Upper Milford Township Board of Supervisors has about two weeks to figure out what the township should do with a pair of older dump trucks in the township fleet that may or may not have outlived their usefulness.

That’s thanks to a motion by Supervisor Robert Sentner who suggested that a supervisor work with Public Works Coordinator Steve Ackerman and “the guys in the garage” to take stock of Truck #5 and Truck #10 and make a recommendation to the supervisors at the board’s next meeting on Oct. 4. Once the motion was approved, Sentner, who runs Sentner's Specialties, volunteered to be the supervisor on the informal panel.

The recommendation could range from putting the trucks up for sale to retrofitting one of them as a brine truck, Sentner said after the meeting.

The township originally put Truck #5, a medium-duty dump truck, up for sale last spring through a timed online auction known as “Municibid.”

At that time, the supervisors said they thought the truck was worth more and decided to hold onto it until the fall when more buyers would likely be in the market for a dump truck.

Upper Milford Township Manager Dan DeLong told the Board of Supervisors last night that it’s pretty much now or never if they hope to sell the trucks.

“This is the season,” DeLong said. “If we are going to get a good price for the truck, now is the time to get it out for bid.”
