Meet Jay Kleckner, Emmaus Public Works Employee

Kleckner has served the borough for over 20 years, always with a smile and a wave. But he's done much more than keep the pool looking nice.

Tell us about your family: Married to Kristine Kleckner for 19 years, father to daughter Kayla, 15, and son Jason (II), 13

Where do you live? Upper Milford Township

Job Title/Description:

Borough of Emmaus Public Works/Parks Department Crew Leader, Pool Maintenance Operator, Auxiliary Police Officer. Kleckner has worked for the Borough of Emmaus for 23 years and has been an Auxiliary Police Officer for seven years.

What inspired you to do what you do?

"I love working outdoors and being around people."

What's your favorite part of your job?

Providing a clean and enjoyable place for people to enjoy.

What other ways do you serve your community?

"I am an assistant boy scout leader to my son's boy scout troop in Old Zionsville, Troop #31. I am a member of  the local VFW, American Legion and Marine Corps League. I also help out with Project Impact, a program for troubled youth."


Tell us what you like to do in your free time.

"Although I have very little free time, working two jobs and sometimes seven days a week, I try to spend what little time I have left with my family.

I also belong to a mens' bowling league (I've been bowling for 40 years). My family and I enjoy biking, hiking, and many other outdoor activities. We also love our annual vacation at the beach."

What's your favorite thing to do in Emmaus?

"Watching my son Jason play baseball for Citizens Fire Co #2."

What's the best advice you've ever received?

Do your best and never give up.

Tell us one thing about yourself that others might not know.

"I take pride in every task that I am assigned, and I try to complete the task by giving it 150 percent effort."
