Mayor Iobst Wins Primary, But Will Stolz Challenge?

Incumbent Winfield Iobst defeated challenger John F. Belin Jr. in Tuesday's Democratic Primary for Emmaus mayor; the only Republican on the ballot was Julian Stolz.

Incumbent Winfield Iobst defeated challenger John F. Belin Jr. in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary race for Emmaus mayor, according to unofficial tallies.

As things stand right now, on paper, that means Iobst will square off against Republican challenger Julian Stolz in the November election. Stolz was the lone Republican on Tuesday’s primary ballot.

However, last week, Stolz endorsed Iobst, saying that he would withdraw his name from the race for mayor as soon as he was legally able to do so.

Stolz said he decided to run against the incumbent when he thought Iobst was part of Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Stolz said that he can now endorse the mayor because he believes that Iobst is no longer part of that coalition and fully supports the Second Amendment.
