Junior Councilman Seeks Answers From Emmaus Council

Rowan Hobson, Emmaus High School's representative on Emmaus Borough Council, asked council about progress on lighting improvements in a student parking lot at the high school at Monday night's meeting.

Emmaus High School's Rowan Hobson had more on his mind than school dances and fundraisers when he delivered his junior council member's report to Emmaus Borough Council Monday night.

Hobson began his briefing for council by reminding his senior colleagues that winter sports at the high school started on Nov. 18, and then used that tidbit to transition into the topic that was really on his mind -- the "poorly lit" junior parking lot at the high school and the status of the new light at North Street.

"How far along are we with that," Hobson asked. "[With winter sports getting under way] a lot of kids are there at night."

Borough Manager Shane Pepe assured Hobson that the borough has been in contact with PPL Electric on the issue, but "unfortunately PPL is slow with doing anything."

At the conclusion of Hobson's report, Council Vice President Brian Hotzhafer, who ran Monday night's meeting joked, "Wow, Mr. Hobson, that was like real business tonight."
