Free Voter ID Available at Lehigh Valley PennDOT Centers

PennDOT driver's license centers in Lehigh and Northampton counties are providing free photo ID for voters who need identification.

HARRISBURG – Since the Pennsylvania Voter ID law was enacted in March, PennDOT has been working closely with the Department of State to ensure that every voter has the opportunity to obtain photo identification.

Starting today statewide, voters who lack verification documents necessary for a secure Pennsylvania Photo ID (non-driver’s license ID card), will be able to obtain a new Department of State voter identification card for free by visiting a PennDOT Driver License Center:

  • Lehigh Valley Driver Center
  • 1710 Hoover Avenue , Allentown, Pa
  • Directions: Airport Rd. South exit, off Route 22
  • Closed Mondays
  • Open Tuesday-Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

  • Easton Driver License Center
  • 2473 Nazareth Road/25th Street Shopping Center, Easton, Pa
  • Directions: Route 22 to the 25th Street exit, PA Route 248 West
  • Closed Mondays
  • Open Tuesday-Saturday 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

The Department of State Voter ID is valid for voting purposes only.

If a resident has the necessary documents, PennDOT’s primary focus is to issue a secure Pennsylvania Identification. If the customer was born in Pennsylvania but does not possess a birth certificate with a raised seal, then PennDOT works directly with Department of Health to certify the customer’s birth record. If a customer still cannot qualify for a PennDOT secure ID, the department will then work to issue the new Department of State Voter ID card.

Residents who want the new Department of State Voter ID will need to

  • Name
  • Address
  • Social Security number
  • Proof of residency and previous name and/or address if changed in the past 12 months

The applicant must complete a Department of State ID application form and sign an oath/affirmation confirming that they are a registered voter but have no other form of identification that can be used for voting.

Staff at the Driver License Center will contact the Department of State to confirm that the person is registered to vote and once verified, the person will receive the free Department of State Voter ID, which is valid for 10 years.

I agree with many things that you say...however when you make a reply like this it sounds like an out of control Democrat. Maintain your composure regarless of the comments. Otherwise you are playing right into the hand of your opponent. Having money and smart children does not make a person "better" or correct. Showing disrespect for people working as a school teacher or public sector janitor does indicate sadly that you are not someone that I could ever take seriously. All people have value. All jobs have their good and bad employees and to just generically just disrespect 2 professions like that shows that you are either someone whose emotions are way out of control, or possibly an ignorant person. I am praying that it is the out of control, so that you can regain some composure and stand on your points without going into the mud with your opponents.

Dear "another point of view", I am not sure why you did not set a good example for me and state your name, addreess etc, but I certainly wish that I could use my name. It is because of the sinfulness of man that I will not reveil me name. Sadly if I trusted the people posting would not damage my home or worse yet hurt my family, I would have no problem at all putting my name. But, in this day and age some people are out of control and so angry, that I cannot trust having my name. I do think however people should be respectful in their disagreeing. As soon as you are out of control and being disrespectful, the other side has gained and you have lossed, even if your points are valid. You were respectful, but I do not quite agree since we need to maintain the integrity of the vote. A free society to me , is one where people are part of the official census taken so that society can function. There have been census for centuries. To have an official count you need to have some method of record keeping. Now we have social security #'s. To me the only way to keep straight that there is not fraud is to have picture identification. How else can we prevent fraud? I do not see how this infringes on anyones liberty. Your vote is not published in the paper. IT is not appropriate to compare this to Jewish passports.
