Here’s a sampling of what Emmaus Patch Facebook friends had to say:

Thirza Peevy: You have to show ID to go to the doctor. You have to show ID to attend college. You have to show ID to write a check. You have to show ID at most jobs. Isn't voting at least that important?

Tamarya Heminitz was one of several Emmaus Patch Facebook friends who supported Peevy’s point of view:

Tamarya Heminitz: I am with you Thirza, I really do not understand what all the complaining is about, if you have lived your life with no responsibility (sic) that you can get by without an ID, then stay out of the voting polls, because you obviously are not dealing with the mess you create by the person you vote into office.

Speaking out on the other side of the issue were Os Leonard and Kevin Kelly.

Os Leonard: The law would have been fine if they had included the transit passes most people in big cities had as I.d.s having a drivers license doesn't mean you're a citizen.

Kevin Kelly: Why don't we go back to the poll tax, that's a much better way to discriminate.
