Who says high schoolers aren't politically active?

Two Emmaus seniors, Neil Ren and Isaiah Zukowski, have been working hand in hand with the non-profit organization Organizing for America to bring about the change they want to see in politics. OFA works to "advance policies like job creation, gun violence prevention, comprehensive immigration reform and measures combating climate change that a majority of the American people support," according to a press release from the group.

On Thursday, the organization will be working to convince U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey to vote for the immigration bill that is to go to the floor in the Senate. They will hold a peaceful rally at 3:30 p.m. outside the Senator's office at 1150 South Cedar Crest Blvd. to present their views about modernizing our immigration system. Supporters of OFA and community members will be in attendance, as well as several Emmaus students. Ren himself is speaking about his experience as an immigrant and his views on the bill.

OFA urges community members, even high schoolers, to get involved with their efforts. More information about the event can be found by contacting Isaiah Zukowski at (484)-515-5373.
