Emmaus Council Could Pass Truck Parking Ordinance Tonight

Revised truck parking ordinance is scheduled for final passage at tonight's Emmaus Borough Council meeting.

Emmaus Borough Council could finally put to rest a controversial ordinance banning the parking of tractor-trailers and other commercial vehicles on borough streets at tonight’s Emmaus Borough Council meeting.

The ordinance, which made its first appearance in August 2012, was tabled in September and sent back to committee for revision. A number of unhappy truck drivers addressed borough council at the Sept. 17 meeting to ask council to reconsider the measure.

The truck parking ordinance was approved by council in its revised form in December 2012 and according to the agenda for the Jan. 7 council meeting posted on the Borough of Emmaus web site is scheduled for final passage tonight.
