Emmaus Borough Council Leadership Remains the Same

Following reorganization, Lee Ann Gilbert to remain council president; Brian Holtzhafer to continue as vice president.

During its reorganization meeting Jan. 3, voted unanimously for Councilwoman to again serve as president of the seven-member legislative body. Councilman Brian Holtzhafer will stay on as council vice president.

At the beginning of the meeting, Gilbert and Holtzhafer were sworn in for new four-year terms on council, along with fellow incumbent Nathan Brown and newcomer Jeff Shubzda.

Gilbert, Holtzhafer, Brown and Shubzda were given the oath of office by .

Committee assignments will basically remain the same for the coming year, with Shubzda taking on the role of Health, Sanitation and Conservation Chair, a post previously filled by former Emmaus Borough Councilman R. Erick Reinhard.

Shubzda will also take Reinhard’s seats on the Budget and Finance and Community Relations, Planning and Development committees.

Councilman Wesley Barrett will take over as chair of the Ad Hoc Committees. Gilbert will be stepping down as a member of the committees.

The Emmaus Borough Council committee assignments for 2012 are as follows:

  • Public Works: Councilman Brent Labenberg (Chair), Brown and Gilbert
  • Health, Sanitation and Conservation: Shubzda (Chair), Holtzhafer and Councilman Mike Waddell
  • Parks and Recreation: Barrett (Chair), Holtzhafer and Labenberg
  • Public Safety: Gilbert (Chair), Barrett and Brown
  • General Administration: Waddell (Chair), Barrett and Labenberg
  • Budget and Finance: Holtzhafer (Chair), Shubzda and Gilbert
  • Community Relations, Planning and Development: Brown (Chair), Shubzda and Waddell
  • Ad Hoc Committees: Barrett (Chair), Holtzhafer, the Borough Manager and Emmaus Mayor Winfield Iobst
