Civil War Flag to be Hung in Council Chambers

Thermostat in Emmaus Borough Council chambers has been moved to accommodate Civil War flag.

A that sparked a bit of controversy at a series of meetings last winter seems to finally have found a permanent home in council chambers.

Emmaus Borough Councilman Nathan Brown told his fellow councilmen at the Oct. 17 borough council meeting that the flag soon would be installed in council chambers to the left of the doors that the public uses to enter chambers.

A thermostat inside council chambers has already been moved to accommodate the flag and once the flag is framed and hung in council chambers, there will still be three to four feet of wall space to the left of the flag to allow plaques and other pictures to be added to the display.

The glass for the frame has been ordered, Brown said, and he would expect everything to be ready in two to three weeks.
