Woman Killed in Chain Reaction Crash on Route 222

Lauren Boyer, 45, of Berks County, was killed on Route 222 when her SUV was smashed between a pick-up truck and a tractor trailer Monday morning.

A Richmond Township woman was killed in a chain-reaction crash when her SUV was smashed between a pick-up truck and a tractor trailer on Route 222 west of Fogelsville in Berks County Monday morning, according to multiple reports.

The road was closed for more than seven hours.

Lauren Boyer, 45, died at the scene around 6:35 a.m. near Pleasant Hill Road in Maidencreek Township, WFMZ reported.

The crash began when a southbound tractor trailer hit the rear of a pick-up truck, which then crashed into Boyer's SUV and pushed it into the rear end of another tractor trailer.

Boyer's vehicle was pushed partially into the cargo area of the tractor trailer, according to a Reading Eagle report.

The man driving the pickup truck was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest.
