Two Hurt When Air Bags Deploy in U. Milford Head-On Crash

Second driver not hurt but cited after Saturday night crash that closed a portion of Chestnut Street.

Two people in the same SUV were hurt when the vehicle's air bags deployed during a head-on crash Saturday night that closed a portion of Chestnut Street in Upper Milford for 30 minutes to an hour.

State police said the driver, Kevin B. Frantz, 48, and the front-seat passenger, Tracey C. Frantz, 47, both of Emmaus, complained of pain from the air bags following the 6:35pm crash on Chestnut, about 427 feet south of Colebrook Avenue.

A second passenger, a 16-year-old girl, was not hurt, a state police fax said. The Frantzes were wearing seat belts but the girl was not, the fax said.

The driver of the other car -- Dean L. Dottery, 58, of Zionsville also wasn't hurt, but police cited him for violating the traffic law "roadways laned for traffic." Dottery was wearing a seat belt.

The fax said Dottery, driving a 2011 Kia Sorrento, was southbound on Chestnut when he tried to stop. The Kia crosed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into the Frantzes' 2011 Chevrolet Suburban.

The Frantzes were taken by Emmaus EMS to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest with injuries of unknown severity, the fax said. The Kia was towed by Mechanics Plus. The Suburban was driveable.

Also assisting police were members of the Vera Cruz Fire Company.
