Three Vehicles Stolen from Emmaus Dealerships Recovered

They were part of more than 40 cars found in an East Coast auto theft ring, police say.

Like lost sheep, three stolen cars from the Auto Mile have been returned to the herd. At least they are accounted for and will be returned.

Unlike lost sheep, they didn't wander away on their own.

Three of at least five cars that have been reported stolen from two Emmaus automobile sales lots earlier this year were recovered May 10 by New Jersey State Police, according to .

The vehicles were found in shipping containers in Elizabeth, N.J., borough police said they were told. The containers were prepared for shipment to Sierra Leone and South Africa.

The investigation brought about the recovery of more than 40 vehicles at locations along the East Coast, police said. The recovery is part of a federal investigation.

The three recovered cars stolen from Emmaus were a 2011 Honda Accord Crossover reported stolen Jan 14 and a 2011 Honda Pilot taken April 12 , both from Lehigh Valley Honda of 675 State Ave., and a 2008 Acura MDX taken March 18 from Lehigh Valley Acura of 333 State Ave., police said.

In other Emmaus police incidents:

Theft: Reported May 13 at Turkey Hill, 602 Chestnut St., police said; cigarettes valued at $36.

Theft: Cell phone belonging to employee reportedly taken May 9 at Iobst Travel, 328 Main St., police said; no value given.

Theft: Reported May 9 by the Mitchell Center, 555 Harrison St., police said; blank prescription pad taken.

Theft: Reported May 6 by Kelly Buick, 501 State Ave., police said; car stereo taken from vehicle; no value given.

Theft: Reported May 6 from vehicle owner in the 200 block of Eagle Drive; cash, credit card and GPS taken from vehicle, police said; no value given.

Theft: Reported May 3 from the 100 block of Camp Street; truck cover taken, police said; $400 value.

In an Upper Milford Township incident reported by state police at Fogelsville:

Cited: Corey D. Beitler, 41, of 4621 Mill Road, Upper Milford; got out of his vehicle at McDonald's restaurant, 1101 Chestnut St., Emmaus, and walked to his residence May 8 while intoxicated, police said; cited for public drunkenness.
