Three from Emmaus Hurt in Crash, Police Say

Pickup truck ran red light at Brookside Road and Sauerkraut Lane, pushing car onto its side, troopers say.

Three Emmaus youths were injured -- the driver moderately -- on March 17 in a two-vehicle traffic accident in Lower Macungie Township in which their car rolled onto its side, police said.

The other vehicle, a pickup truck, ran a red light, according to state police at Fogelsville.

The Kia Soul driven by Thomas R. Ninesling, 16, was turning from Sauerkraut Lane onto Brookside Road about 1:22 p.m., police said. As Ninesling was in the intersection, William D. Capwell, 43, of Macungie did not stop at a red light while he was traveling south on Brookside Road.

The front of Capwell's Toyota Tundra struck the driver's side door of Ninesling's car, police said. Ninesling's car rolled over and landed on the passenger's side.

Ninesling was moderately hurt. His passengers, Elizabeth A. Ninesling, 13, and Matthew L. Ninesling, 10, received minor injuries, police said. They were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by Macungie Ambulance Corps.

Capwell and his passenger, Dakota W. Capwell, 14, were unhurt, police said.

Ninesling's Kia received heavy damage to the driver's and passenger's sides, police said. Capwell's truck was only slightly damaged and could be driven from the accident.

Capwell was cited for the accident, police said.
