Teens who Beat man With Brick Chased Through Emmaus

Two Allentown teens face homicide charges after allegedly beating a man over the head with a brick and robbing him as he waited for a bus outside  Tuesday morning in Salisbury Township, according to court records and news reports.

Darrell Pippinger, 18, of 630 N. Fourth St., was arrested and charged with attempted homicide, simple assault, aggravated assault, robbery and other offenses, according to court records. His alleged accomplice, Giancarlo Saldana, 15, of 133 Tilghman St., was also arrested and charged with attempted homicide and numerous other offenses and will be charged as an adult according to The Morning Call.

Pippinger and Saldana fled in a stolen Toyota Rav4 which they abandoned and police found a short time later with front-end damage in the 3300 block of Capital Street. Allentown police later determined the Rav4 had crashed nearby at the Hallmark store at 3031 Emmaus Ave., according to the Express-Times.

 and were on the case as the pair ran through residents' backyards and allegedy stole keys from employees at , 464 State Ave., Emmaus, according to eyewitnesses and police scanner reports.

Police arrested Pippinger and Saldana in a residential area near the gas station. The pair were arraigned before District Judge Ron Manescu Wednesday and sent to Lehigh County Prison under $1 million bail each.

The assault victim, who was identifed as Matt Neitz, was hospitalized with severe head trauma and was listed in critical condition Wednesday, the Morning Call said.
