Pedestrian Struck by Train and Killed

A 41-year-old Emmaus man was struck by a train and killed Monday while trying to cross the railroad tracks near Chestnut Street, the Lehigh County Coroner said.

Mark Schwartz, of the 1200 block of Minor Street, died of multiple traumatic injuries, the coroner said. He ruled the death an accident. 

The accident happened at 4:24 p.m. on the westbound railroad tracks behind the 1300 block of Chestnut Street in Emmaus, according to a release.

Deputy Coroner Wendy Brantley pronounced Schwartz dead at 5:12 p.m.

The coroner's office and the Emmaus police are investigating.
