Pedestrian Killed By Train in Emmaus

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a westbound freight train at 2:05 p.m., according to published reports.

A pedestrian was struck by a train and killed at Harrison Street in Emmaus Friday afternoon, according to published reports.

Dave Pidgeon of Norfolk Southern confirmed that the person was struck at 2:05 p.m. by a westbound freight train but did not address whether the person was killed. He referred those questions to law enforcement and the coroner.

The Morning Call reported that the person was killed according to scanner reports

Pidgeon said the train had three locomotives, 56 loaded freight cars and 49 empty cars. He could not say how fast the train was traveling but said that train corridor is rated for 50 mph.
