Nursing Center Worker Allegedly Stole Resident's Medication

Police says she stole, then swallowed the medication from a Lower Macungie facility for the elderly.

A 36-year-old female worker is suspected of stealing and ingesting medication meant for a resident at a Lower Macungie Township facility for the elderly, police said.

The unnamed employee at The Village at Willow Lane, 6488 Alburtis Road, is suspected of taking the medication prescribed for a patient, according to state police at Fogelsville.

Police did not name the medication but said the incident was reported at 3 p.m. Nov. 13. Police did not say whether the employee has been charged. They said the incident remains under investigation.

The facility offers a variety of senior living levels, from short-term care to independent living to various levels of assisted living, according to its website.

In June, state police said that two residents reported separate thefts from their rooms within days of each other. One was a loss of $37 and the other was for about $150.
