Man Dropped Crack on Casino Floor, Police Say

New York City man allegedly dropped plastic baggies filled with crack cocaine at the Sands casino in front of a security podium.

June 22 was not Shavar O. Sapp's lucky day at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem.

Sapp of New York City was walking around the casino about 11:32 p.m. June 22 when he allegedly dropped a small plastic bag in front of a security podium, according to court records.

A security officer picked up the bag and found that it contained seven bags of what appeared to be crack cocaine.

Surveillance tapes later showed Sapp using a "My Sands" player card that identified him.  State police had the substance in the bag tested and it came back positive for crack, court records say.

Sapp was arraigned on drug charges before District Justice Patricia A. Romig-Passaro Tuesday and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.

These are the kind of people that are attracted now to Bethlehem as a result of the casino and walking our streets. We had a guy the other night accost us on Main Street looking for money to get back to NYC because he lost all his money at the Sands and couldn't get home. What a wonderful new element Sheldon Adelson has brought to our fine city.
