Jefferson Elementary Evacuation Drill Thursday

Jefferson Elementary School will hold its second evacuation drill of the 2012-2013 school year on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

Jefferson Elementary School will be conducting a schoolwide evacuation drill on Thursday as part of its safety preparedness program, according to an email blast sent Wednesday to Jefferson families by Principal Cheryl A. Scalzo.

The drill, the second of the 2012-2013 academic year, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

During the drill, students, teachers and staff will report to the macadam area of the playground, the email explains. Then, students will partner up with a grade-level buddy and everyone will walk to St. Johns church at 4th and North streets.

"As part of our protocol, we invite local community service agencies to participate along with us during this drill," Scalzo writes. The Emmaus Police department, Fire department, and Ambulance corps will be participating in this drill along with the Jefferson students, faculty and staff."

Jefferson also runs monthly fire drills and lockdown drills in addition to the biannual evacuation drills, according to Scalzo's email.
