There's no word about when power service will be restored, or when water service will be reinstated.

Residents who need water can bring jugs to be filled at the Emmaus Fire Company on Sixth Street in Emmaus,

Here are the latest Lehigh County road closings from PennDOT.

  • Indian Creek Road at Cedar Crest Boulevard in Upper Milford Township is closed due to flooding;
  • Spring Creek Road at Mill Creek Road in Lower Macungie Township is closed due to flooding;
  • Spring Valley Road between Landis Mill Road and Washington Lane in Upper Saucon Township is closed due to a downed tree and utility;
  • Churchview Road between Vera Cruz Road and Faith Road in Upper Milford Township is closed due to a downed utility.

Another business update via Emmaus Patch Facebook: David's Electric closed at 3:00 today, gonna wait and see what tomorrow brings

UPDATE: Monday, October 29, 3:48 p.m.

Lehigh County Government Center and Courts Offices will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday October 30 due to the storm.   Certain Emergency Functions will remain in operation, but all County and Courts Offices will be closed. We will provide an update at a later time.

  • Closing soon, Hosfeld Insurance/InsuranceChix.com Just have to finish a webinar for procedures about extra staffing for our claims units, etc.
  • R Furry Friends Doggie Daycare will be closed also on Tuesday.

Upper Milford Township has rescheduled Trick or Treat for Saturday, November 3 from 6 pm to 8 pm.

East Penn School District is closed on Tuesday, Oct. 30. No transportation will be provided for students who live in the district and attend non-East Penn schools.

From the Borough of Emmaus: "Due to the potential damage and circumstances as a result of Hurricane Sandy, the Borough of Emmaus has cancelled Trick or Treat Night for Wednesday evening. Because of the potential for lasting effects of the hurricane, Trick or Treat Night for the Borough of Emmaus has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 3rd from 6pm to 8pm."  

UPDATE: Sunday, October 28, 8:14 p.m.

Upper Milford Township has decided to keep the township building open as an emergency shelter during the storm. The best advice is to shelter in place. If power goes out, there will be no power at the township building. But, if there is a reason that your home becomes unsafe during the storm, township officials encourage residents to bring blankets, pillows, etc. to the township building as a safe, dry location to weather the storm.
