Gamewell Boxes Sold Out

All of the Borough of Emmaus' Historic Gamewell fire notification boxes sold within seven days of being put up for sale.

It's already time to say "game over" on the sale of the Gamewell fire notification boxes in the Borough of Emmaus.

The last of the borough's 37 boxes put up for sale last week was sold Monday morning, according to Borough Manager Shane Pepe.

The sale of the units was kicked off through a resolution at Emmaus Borough Council's Aug. 19 meeting, and Pepe says there were no restrictions on the sale other than a one-per-household limitation until Nov. 1.

Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Emmaus Fire Department, covering unbudgeted equipment expenses.

Those boxes in "excellent" condition sold for $150; those in "good" condition sold for $125, and those in "fair" condition sold for $100, Pepe explains, and now that all have been sold, the Emmaus Fire Department will net an additional $4,700.
