Emmaus Resident Reports $3,600 Scam

Police offer few details, but say money order was obtained.

An Emmaus resident recently told police she was the victim of a $3,600 scam.

Borough police said the woman is a resident of the 700 block of Furnace Street. Police offered few details, citing an active investigation, but said the scam was reported March 23 and funds were obtained by money order.

Charged: Scott D. Schwartz, 34, of 2810 Cherryville Road, Northampton; 1:10 a.m. Sunday with driving under the influence at Cedar Crest Boulevard and Harris Drive, police said; processed at Lehigh County DUI Center and released.

Charged: Jacob Dorney, 19, of Lee St., Emmaus; Friday with underage drinking, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after disturbance in the 700 block of Fernwood Street, police said; cited and released to relative.

Auto theft: Reported Friday at Lehigh Valley Honda, 675 State Ave.; 2011 Honda Pilot taken between Wednesday and Friday, police said; $33,275 value.

Criminal mischief: Reported Friday at Mill Run Apartments, 364 Powder Mill Lane; graffiti in stairwell and paint burned with lighter, police said; $100 estimated damage.

Charged: Antonio Mercado, 52, of 150 Cold Stream Circle, Emmaus; 9:25 p.m. Thursday with driving under the influence in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street, police said; processed at the Lehigh County DUI Center and released.

Criminal mischief: vandalism reported Wednesday in the 1200 block of W. Jubilee Street; vehicle appeared to have been kicked, police said; $1,100 estimated damage.
