Emmaus Firefighters Compete in Coopersburg

Real Winners Will Be People Rescued in Buildings

 

Four firefighters won nearly $1,900 for Emmaus Fire Department in timed simulated rescues of victims trapped in smoke-filled homes or commercial buildings

Nine teams from seven municipalities competed for cash prizes in the Dec. 11 competition, which was hosted by Coopersburg Fire Department.

Representing Emmaus were Robert Schwoyer, Bob Erney, Kyle Walbert and Patrick Soucy.

The timed trials took place inside a boarded-up and intentionally smoke-filled building, the former Pinebrook Junior College in Coopersburg. It now is used as a training facility by Coopersburg Fire Department.

The prize money was donated by the event's primary sponsor, Cityline Construction of Allentown.
