Emmaus Checkpoint Snares 9 for Suspected DUI

A recent Friday night checkpoint in Emmaus resulted in nine DUI arrests, including one for underage drinking, according to the Emmaus Police Department.

A recent DUI checkpoint in Emmaus resulted in a total of nine DUI arrests, according to Emmaus Police.

Approximately 500 cars passed through the checkpoint, which was held in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street for a five-hour period on Friday, Sept. 27, police say. 

In addition, Emmaus Police report the following:

  • At least 20 operators were tested on site for suspicion of DUI. Nine of these were later processed for DUI. 
  • In addition to DUI, one of the nine arrests included narcotics. 
  • In addition to DUI, a separate operator of the nine arrested for DUI was a minor (underage). 
  • A separate traffic arrest was made for Driving with a Suspended Driver’s License. 
  • A separate non-traffic arrest was made for Underage Drinking. 
The traffic checkpoint was conducted in conjunction with Lehigh County Team DUI.
