Emmaus Car Dealership Reports $29,400 in Catalytic Converters Stolen

Twenty-one of the units are taken from vehicles on the lot, police say.

The Auto Mile has long been perhaps the Lehigh Valley's premier location to search for a new or used car.

As such, the array of vehicle dealerships also has been a convenient place to buy auto parts. Check with any Service Department and they will fix you up.

But someone wasn't interested in going the traditional route recently when they paid a visit to the at 521 State Ave. in Emmaus. Not only didn't they step up to the window and place an order, they simply looked over the sales lot and picked out 21 catalytic converters to take along -- at no charge, according to . The thefts were valued at $29,400 and reported on June 19.

The dealership reported that 21 of the units were stolen, police said. Catalytic converters change toxic chemicals in the exhaust into less harmful emissions.
