Emmaus Balcony Fire Quickly Extinguished
Little damage caused by evening blaze, fire chief says.
Despite reports of smoke showing before firefighters arrived, an Emmaus crew quickly extinguished a balcony fire Saturday evening minimizing damage, according to Emmaus Fire Chief James Reiss.
were called about 8 p.m. to 432 Chestnut St. They were advised by a passing and a responding that heavy smoke was coming from the rear rooftop, according to scanner transmissions.
Firefighters used a light hoseline to extinguish flames on a second-floor balcony. Damage was minimal, said Reiss. A charred section of railing was tossed to the ground below to prevent it from setting anything else ablaze.
