High School Gun Rumors Under Investigation

Police investigated rumors that someone was going to bring a gun to Emmaus High School.

Emmaus Police and East Penn school officials investigated rumors that someone was going to bring a gun to Emmaus High School and found the rumors unfounded, East Penn community liaison Nicole Bloise told Patch Tuesday morning.

Parents were informed of the rumors via an automated phone call from the high school principal, an East Penn parent told Patch.

On Tuesday afternoon, Emmaus Police issued a prepared statement about the investigation:

"On Sunday, April 28, 2013, the Emmaus Police Department received an email from an East Penn parent, who learned through a discussion with their child that rumors were circulating at Emmaus High School in relationship to a school shooting to occur on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. The Emmaus Police Department immediately notified School Officials and an investigation was conducted and is ongoing.  Precautionary measures were implemented both by the School District, the Emmaus Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police."

The school year has been disrupted by several bomb hoaxes. Two arrests have been made relating to those false bomb threats at Emmaus High School.
