Dead Puppy Witnesses Urged to Come Forward

Anyone with information about animal abuse or neglect can call the PSPCA's toll-free 24-hour hotline

It's likely that more than one person knows how 11 puppies ended up along a rural road in Lehigh County last Friday.

"These things don't usually happen in isolation. There might be witnesses. They might be reluctant to come forward because of retaliation. It's really disturbing that someone could do something like that to helpless animals," said Wendy A. Marano, public relations specialist for the Pennsylvania SPCA (PSPCA).

Marano urges anyone with information about animal cruelty or neglect to call the PSPCA 24-hour toll-free hotline at  1-866-601-SPCA.

State police and the Lehigh County Humane Society are investigating the puppy case. Anyone with information is urged to call Christine Wiggins at the Humane Society at 610-797-1205 ext. 2.

The PSPCA is still seeking tips on two cases of dogs set on fire in the Philadelphia area this summer.

The Lower Macungie puppy case is sparking similar reactions of horror and disgust.

"We're shocked," Marano told Patch on Monday afternoon. "It's horrendous."

But Marano added that the agency has not heard other reports of any such skinning incidents.

The 11 dead puppies were found Friday afternoon near Quarry Park.

for information in the case.

Reduculous PETA-like hype. They were foxes. Legal to hunt/trap. They are a rabies vector species and need to be controlled. Do you want them over-populating and attacking your kids and pets because they are starving and/or rabid?

Having said that, the should be disposed of properly. It's quite possible that they weren't dumped there, but were dragged there by foxes, coyotes, raccoons, or even your family dog ...

Stevenson, you sound like you support sickos who do this to animals. I read your post on a different site and you are, shall I say, "rabid" about defending this twisted coward. Maybe you know more than you're actually saying?
