Boy Riding Bike Hit By Truck in Emmaus Saturday

Five-year-old is hospitalized in intensive care

A 5-year-old boy who was riding his bike with his father was seriously injured Saturday morning when he was struck by a pickup truck in Emmaus, police said.
 
The accident happened at 10:10 a.m. at Fourth and Chestnut streets. Sgt. Troy Schantz of the Emmaus police department said the boy was riding west on Fourth Street as the truck made a right turn onto Fourth Street.
 
The boy was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, where he was listed in intensive care on Sunday morning.
 
The youngster had been wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
 
No citations will be issued to the driver, police said.
