Woman Crashes Into Boulders on 5th Street

A deer crossing the road apparently caused a 35-year-old Whitehall woman to lose control and crash into boulders at 4980 S. 5th Street in Upper Milford.

It happened on the road's sharp curve on the south side of South Mountain, just above Brunner Road.

Sharaye M. Baltimore-Puckerin of 1315 Discus Circle, Whitehall, faces charges of driving under the influence, failing to stay in her lane on the roadway, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving.

 A preliminary hearing has been scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 12 before Magisterial District Judge Donna Butler, 106 Main St., Emmaus.

Baltimore-Puckerin was driving a 1999 Ford Explorer when the accident occurred at 10:40 p.m. Nov. 5.

 State police at Fogelsville reported she crossed into the oncoming lane on a sharp curve and hit boulders along the side of the road.

Police said she displayed signs of intoxication and a strong odor of alcohol was on her breath. She admittd she had been drinking alcohol before the crash.
