Airborne Car Rolls, 2 Hurt in Upper Milford, Police Say

A speeding car swerved to avoid collision, but was catapulted after hitting boulders, troopers report.

Two Wescosville men were hurt recently in Upper Milford Township when their vehicle hit large rocks, went airborne and rolled over end-over-end, police said.

Tyler Lee DeLong, 18, was northbound on Route 29 traveling at high speed about 2 p.m. March 30, according to state police at Fogelsville. DeLong saw a vehicle crossing Beck Road in front of him and swerved to avoid a collision.

However, DeLong lost control of his vehicle, crossing the roadway and striking two boulders with his passenger's side, police said. His vehicle went airborne and rolled end-over-end before coming to rest about 70 feet from where he struck the rocks. DeLong and his passenger, Ryan J. Spangenberg, no age given, were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest by Macungie and Emmaus ambulance corps, police said. Troopers did not characterize the severity of their injuries.
