Burglar steals piping from nearby residences, police say.

A burglar recently took a shine to copper piping inside two Emmaus residences and removed a total of about $5,000 worth, according to borough police.

The theft was reported June 4 from two unoccupied homes at 17 and 21 Main St., police said. Copper and other scrap metals have been particular targets of thieves who look to turn a quick buck through resale at scrapyards.
