100s of Animals Found at Derbe Eckhart's Former Kennel

Notorious puppy mill owner Derbe Eckhart is in trouble for having more animals than his probation terms allow.

The SPCA on Saturday raided the former kennel of notorious puppy mill owner Debre Eckhart in Upper Milford Township but found no animal cruelty violations, according to a WFMZ report.

No animals were taken although officials earlier last week said Eckhart has more animals than he is permitted under his probation terms.

Lehigh County Probation Department officials found the following:

  • 21 dogs
  • 3 donkeys
  • 3 monkeys
  • 4 goats
  • 22 horses including Clydesdales
  • 138 birds
  • Turkeys, peacocks and geese
  • Too many cats and kittens to count
Eckhart was convicted of animal cruelty charges in 2010 related to his kennel called Almost Heaven and he spent nine months in prison.

Officials haven not yet said what is going to happen next regarding the excess animals on Eckhart's property.
