Community Corner

Mr. Mayor

I have invited you to take a stroll with me up and down the streets of Emmaus, so you could see first hand how nearly impossible it is for people to cross streets or use the sidewalks rather than the street. This never happened, now if you were to try, you could not walk at all. Why didn't you declare a snow emergency? The people living at Ridge Manor 1, 3rd and Ridge, and next door have been literally trapped in their homes-unable to get out for food or medications--and you did it. LANTA bus can't drive down 3rd at all, and to walk up to Chestnut street is out of the question. It is nearly impossible to make that walk with any type of mobility assistance, or be elederly, or for that matter anyone, and then have to do it again to get home with groceries and packages.

I do not understand why the emergency was not called, and it is too late to correct that, but can't the borough do something to the street cleaning, alternate side of the street?

Since the buses can't get through and we can't get out, why don't you, the city and everyone that tell us to be patient, iand it is not my responsibily offer to take us shopping and Dr. appointments. I sure if there ever is a next time, you will remember those snow emergency routes.

I know many of my neighbors agree that there are many people that will remember our "being held prisoners" come next election.

Just get that bus service back and available.
