Meet Marshall Rau, Community Volunteer
In the 50-plus years Marshall Rau has lived in the area, he has volunteered more than his share of time for the betterment of our town.
Name: Marshall Rau
Town in which you live: East Texas for the past seven years, but before that lived in Emmaus for 50 years.

Rau is an active member of the ; he's been Sacristan for 12 years and a church trustee for 12 years. He also takes care of the church cemetery.
Plus, Rau is a former volunteer fireman in Emmaus.

Rau is currently on the Board of Trustees of Citizens Fire Co. #2. He has been in charge of baseball/softball programs for the club for more than 30 years.
Explain your involvement with the EYA (). Why are you so passionate about it?
"I was on the EYA board for over 15 years -- when the EYA traveling teams, Biddie, Midget, Knee-Hi, and Jr. Legion teams were formed. I helped establish T-Ball for the community. I was also involved as a board member when lights were placed at the park."
Rau coached in EYA programs for more than 30 years:

- Sr. Legion coach
- EYA Biddie coach
He says: "The EYA plays an important part in the value of team sportsmanship, leadership and learning to communicate with other people of different backgrounds and cultures."
What do you like about working in Emmaus?
"My work at the Emmaus Moravian Cemetery allows me to meet and communicate with many residents of Emmaus. I always enjoy people stopping and 'chatting' with me while I’m working there."
What do you like to do for fun when you’re not at work?
"I enjoy spending time with my wife, Judy, friends and especially spending time with my four grandkids."
Tell us something about yourself that others might not know.
"If I had to pick another vocation, I would be a teacher."
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
"The Golden Rule always #1: Treat everyone as equals no matter what background or talents people have."
