Have you met the Traveling Cupcake Gal?

Karri Schreppel, who owns Emmaus-based Sugar So Sweet, treats Emmaus and the surrounding area with traveling cupcakes and excellent service.

Name: Karri Schreppel

Where do you live?

"My husband and I bought our home in Emmaus in June 2010, and absolutely love it here!"

What's your professional training?

"I attended Lehigh Carbon Community College for Business. I have known since I was young that I wanted my own business. My baking training comes from many years of practice! Baking started for me at a young age -- one of my fondest family memories is our annual holiday 'Cookie Day,' sharing recipes and baking together."

Tell us about how you ventured into the cupcake business and came to operate Sugar So Sweet.

"The cupcakes started with my sister and I a few years ago. We began baking for her children and family members and then for friends, and it just grew from there."

Why did you choose to use a truck to get started?

"When we saw a coffee truck listed for sale we thought it would be awesome to transform it into a mobile cupcake business! We had seen other specialty food trucks in action and knew they were huge hits at festivals and events.

"We were searching for the next step in the business and the opportunity just came at the right time! The startup costs for the cupcake truck were lower than getting a retail location, making it more attainable!"

Why do you feel Emmaus will benefit from your service?

"Emmaus is amazing! The community is a great support of the local small businesses. I feel that having a specialty business like this is just another great addition to our town."

What's your best-selling cupcake? Tell us what's in it.

"The best selling flavor by far is the Chocolate Dream -- a moist chocolate cupcake with chocolate cream filling, yummy chocolate butter cream, chocolate drizzle and topped with mini chocolate chips. It doesn’t get any dreamier than that!"

What's YOUR favorite kind to make and why?

"My favorite cupcakes to make are the seasonal flavors. This is where my creativity can really soar! I love coming up with new and exciting flavor combinations."

Tell us about your future goals for your business?

"I am currently looking to get a retail location in Emmaus in addition to the cupcake truck."

What do you like to do in your free time?

"Anything artistic -- I love drawing, painting, and cooking, but one of my most favorite things to do is grocery shop, I absolutely love it!"

If you had to live on cupcakes for a month, which three would you choose?

"Wow cupcakes for a whole month!!! Oh my!! Well, here goes...

Peanut Buddy: Chocolate cake filled with peanut butter, peanut butter frosting, topped with peanut butter drizzle and crunchy peanuts. Who can resist that?!

Dark Chocolate Bacon: I love dark chocolate and this sweet salty combination is just meant to be!

Sweet Strawberry: This vanilla cupcake filled with fresh strawberries tastes like summer to me, and we could all use some warm thoughts right now!"

My family purchased a variety dozen for Thanksgiving and they were a huge hit!! We cut the cupcakes into fours because everyone wanted to try a little of each! Sugar So Sweet delivered my cupcakes the night before and I would definitely recommend this company to anyone who is looking for a deliciously creative alternative to your traditional desserts.( cakes, pies, etc.) The seasonal flavors mixed with some traditional really showed Sugar So Sweets range in flavors! Thanks for delicious memories! As far favorite flavor? To hard to choose!
