John H. Angstadt, 90, Earned Purple Heart in WWII
John H. Angstadt, 90, of Emmaus, died Oct. 31, 2013.
John H. Angstadt, 90, formerly of Emmaus, died October 31, 2013 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Diane F. (Diefenderfer) Angstadt. Born in Gauff’s Hill, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Mary A. (Scholl) Angstadt. John attended Penn State University and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University. He worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Bethlehem Steel for over 40 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Emmaus. He was a former member of the Emmaus Lion’s Club, the Engineers Club of the Lehigh Valley, was a Board member of Northwood Cemetery, and volunteered for many organizations during his retirement. He honorably served his country in the Army during WWII, earning a purple heart.

Wife; Son, Michael J. Angstadt and wife Jan of LaGrange, GA; Daughter, Susan J. Angstadt-Sullivan of Quakertown; Brother, Richard A. Angstadt of Tucson,AZ; Sister, Barbara R. Kinkle of DE; 5 Grandchildren and husbands; Cori and Steven Cambre, Cailin and Scottie Allen, Greta and Patrick Cork, Joanna Angstadt of GA and Emily Sullivan of Quakertown.
Services
Memorial Services Sat., Nov. 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus. Private interment with military honors will be in Northwood Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made to www.schantzfh.com
