Funeral Services for Auxiliary Police Officer to be Held Wednesday

Road closings and parking restrictions will be in effect in the downtown from 8:30 a.m. through 1 p.m.

Funeral services will be held for Raymond W. Seiling, Jr., 65, on Wednesday, May 18, at Schantz Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Emmaus. Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon.

Seiling, of Bethlehem, who died May 13 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg, was an auxiliary police officer in the Emmaus Police Department and a code enforcement officer for Hanover Township Lehigh County. 

. In an email interview related to that story, Emmaus Chief of Police David A. Faust wrote the following:

"Ray is very committed to his responsibilities Downtown," Faust wrote. "You will find him out during all kinds of weather. Whether it is freezing cold, torrential rain or extremely hot and humid, Ray is dedicated and takes his job very seriously. He is extremely visible Downtown with the pedestrians and the business community. He keeps traffic moving and is on top of the parking situations Downtown. Ray is very fair-minded and approachable.  He genuinely wants to help people! In addition, he is very consistent with enforcement." 

In order to accommodate parking for those attending the funeral, according to the Emmaus Police Department, the following will restrictions will be in effect on Wednesday May 18, from 8:30 a.m. until about 1 p.m.:

  • 3rd Street between Railroad and Ridge Street will be closed.
  • 200 block of Railroad Street will be closed.
  • No parking on Main Street between 2nd and 4th Streets (both sides) including the Triangle.
  • No parking on 3rd Street between Railroad and Ridge Streets.

. Downtown businesses and the borough are working together to administer the “Ray Seilng Memorial Fund,” and . Contributions to the fund can be dropped off at any KNBT branch.
