Some News You Can Use (or Might Find Interesting)

Successful (and fun) Professional and Business Women's group organized in Emmaus... Come and join us!

Welcome to the Emmaus Professional and Women Business Owners blog.  We are a group of professional women whose careers, businesses or services are located in, or largely benefit, the Emmaus Community.  What began several months ago at the urging of Linda Abraham (co-chair and of The Impact Project, a foster care agency) as a casual get-together has become a regularly scheduled, once-a-month gathering at a venue located in Emmaus.  The informal meetings, scheduled on the second Thursday of each month, are fun, informative, and offer an excellent opportunity to meet other businesswomen.

We decided that the best way to reach the professional women in Emmaus is to begin a blog.  Our particular blog is entitled Some News You Can Use (or Might Find Interesting).  Each month we will spotlight a particular woman-owned business or a professional in her field.  The blog is less oriented toward general information about the business and more directed toward getting to know the individual person.  We hope you will enjoy getting to know us.  We hope that the women reading this blog will join us as we continue our get-togethers.  Meeting announcements detailing the date, time, and meeting place will be posted on our blog.

We begin with a big Thank You to the Farmhouse Restaurant and co-owner Michelle Quier for the hospitality extended to us at last month’s meeting.  Michelle, who also owns Granny Schmidt’s Custom Cakes, reported that the Farmhouse will be opening the barn on the property as an upscale pub.  "The Hayloft" is slated to open on June 1st.  No competition with the "Tap and Table," which recently closed.

Annie Sweeney of Ackley Sweeney Advertising is excited that she and husband Tom recently purchased the property at 9 N. 4th Street and will be relocating their office to this site when major renovations are completed.  The Sweeneys are hoping that the work will be done by mid-June, so we’re looking forward to a meeting at their new place... complete with large screen TV's, pinball machine, air hockey and more (and of course the customary beverages!!).

Sally Ullman of Sally Ullman Photography will be holding her semi-annual open house on Wednesday, May 18th at 5:30, 2815 Columbus Drive.  Enjoy a massage at the pool and a tour of her studio and shop.  There will be a raffle to benefit Healing Through the Arts.  Sally also suggests a great Mother's Day Gift - a gift certificate for a portrait?

Nancy O'Keefe of La Belle Cuisine-Fine Cookware is happy to have her home’s renovations almost completed.  She and her husband Joe had major renovations made to the floors above her store.  Nancy cooks quite a bit and is delighted that construction dust is no longer part of their diet.

We are a very dynamic group of women with lots of character and personality.  Helen Paulus has attended all of our meetings.  We love having Helen as part of our group because she skillfully brings balance and calm to our group when we all start talking simultaneously!!  As well, she should.  Helen is a personal and business coach.  She owns Out of the Box Institute and inspires business owners, CEO's, individuals and Entrepreneurs as they create BALANCE, Success and Abundance in every aspect of life.

We welcomed Cindy Massa of Design Elements.  Cindy reported that her sales have been great since moving to her location in Emmaus about a year ago.

Lastly, I am pleased to announce that we, at Haney Associates, have an entirely new staff (with the exception of Nichole Brown, who just had a baby girl!), and since my staff is bi-lingual (not me though), so many opportunities have already opened for us (including, but not limited to, Spanish-speaking pugs... thanks to Chantel's on-going lessons!!)

On a serious note, Beth Alcaro is in the fight of her life with cancer.   Kathy Haney is assisting the EPSD by collecting gift baskets to be raffled off during a fund-raising event being held at Shepherd Hills.  We already have six commitments of baskets from Emmaus businesses.  Will you help with this worthy cause?  Please drop off any baskets (or gifts of a minimum $25 value) to Haney Associates and we will deliver them to the High School.  We will be accepting them until May 30th only.  You can obtain more information and purchase event tickets by going to Benefit for Beth'

We were pleased to welcome some other new members who joined us for a bit of wine and fabulous Farmhouse munchies.  Janice Eggert of Nature’s Charm and Jennifer Marangos of Patch.com (thank you, Jennifer, for your direction on creating our business presence in your directory!)

From time to time our blog will make a recommendation of a service that we just can’t live without.  A few of us have been utilizing the services of Your Neighborhood Dry Cleaner, owned and operated by Sue and Barry Diehl.  They offer a door-to-door, pickup and delivery dry cleaning service.  Their rates are great and they come to your home or office twice a week.  Absolutely well worth the time.  Please check them out.

This blog was created for you.  We welcome your comments and suggestions.  We hope that you will join us for our next get-together to tell us what's happening in your little "patch" of the world (no pun intended)!  There are no membership fees or charges, just come and have a good time and meet new people.

JOIN US FOR A BELATED CINCO DE MAYO

Our next gathering will be on Thursday, May 12th at 5:30 p.m. at Fiesta Ole.  (They have a happy hour but will only be available before 6:00 pm)
