Alburtis Lock Ridge Historical Society meeting

For Immediate Release: June Monthly Meeting and Program - Patriotic Holidays Presentation

Alburtis, PA -- The June Monthly Meeting and Program of the Lockridge Historical Society will take place on Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Society's headquarters, The Lockridge Memorial Presbyterian Church, on the corner of Franklin and Church Streets in Alburtis. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the building, followed by a special program at 8:00 p.m. Joshua A. Fink, local historian, will present a program entitled "A Patriotic Triumvirate: The History of Memorial Day, Flag Day and the Fourth of July." The three holidays that take place in May, June and July have been celebrated for many years, the oldest being the 4th of July, which was celebrated for the first time in 1777, the year after the Declaration of Independence was adopted.  These three holidays are important to Americans' public memory, as they help citizens annually commemorate America's past.  Come to the Historical Society, celebrate Flag Day, 2012 and learn about the history of these significant American celebrations. The Alburtis Lockridge Historical Society is located at 407 Franklin Street in Alburtis, Pennsylvania 18011 (the corner of Church & Franklin Streets). Light refreshments will be served afterwards in the Society's downstairs museum.
