Community Corner

Obamacare Education Seminar

On Sunday, August 4, 2013, volunteers with Organizing for Action-Lehigh Valley (OFA-LV) will launch a grassroots campaign to educate their families, friends, and neighbors about the benefits of Obamacare.
OFA-LV leader and Allentown-based attorney, Mark D. Aurand  will help volunteers understand how Obamacare provides Americans with better coverage and lower costs. “The focus will be on the current benefits of Obamacare – including free preventive care and protection from insurance company abuses – and an introduction to the marketplaces/exchanges,” said Aurand  “Much of the meeting will involve building a local volunteer team and planning future OFA-LV strategy regarding Obamacare.” Aurand will draw on his extensive experience in healthcare law gained through his practice with the firm of Davison & McCarthy.
Following Aurand s presentation, attendees will brainstorm ways to educate the Lehigh Valley community about Obamacare, working with others who care as passionately about the issue as they do and are committed to taking action. As residents of Allentown and surrounding communities, the volunteers will be able to devise activities that they know will be most effective with local residents. Possible actions include writing letters to editors of local print and online news outlets, soliciting and recording personal stories of those who’ve been helped by Obamacare, and disseminating information through social media, like Facebook and Twitter.
The event is free and open to the public; anyone interested can sign in here or just show up! https://my.barackobama.com/page/event/detail/obamacareactionevent/gsc7jm
