Steel Stacks Concert Provides Opportunity to Enjoy Live Folk Music

Don't miss your chance to hear Martin Sexton perform on Thursday, June 16.

This week’s musical opportunity: the talented Martin Sexton – a folk singer/songwriter who’s playing right around the corner at the Musikfest Café in Bethlehem (an intimate venue with a good view no matter where you sit).  Sexton is known for his “raw” talent – a spirited and soulful voice, solid guitar skills, and the ability to improvise. His music is influenced by country, soul, rock, blues and gospel, and it all began in 1992, when he released a collection of self-produced demo recordings titled “In the Journey.” Since then, Sexton has released eight other albums and has collaborated with many artists including Dave Matthews, Peter Frampton and John Mayer, who refers to him as “the best live performer I’ve ever seen.”

You’ll like Martin Sexton if you like:

  • Ben Harper
  • Alison Krauss
  • Ray LaMontagne
  • Amos Lee
  • Van Morrison

Sexton’s opening act, Sarah Lee and Johnny, features the folk duo of Sarah Lee Guthrie (daughter of folksinger Arlo Guthrie and granddaughter of Woody Guthrie) and her husband, Johnny Irion.
