PPL: Emmaus Could Get Power in 1-2 Days

PPL crews are working around the clock to restore power

PPL says 6,400 customers in Emmaus and 3,146 in Upper Milford Township were still without power as of 3:15 p.m. Monday.

PPL spokesman Joe Nixon expects most to be back on line within a day or two but would not be more specific.

"Really, at this point, we can't pinpoint when a particular community is going to have power," he said.

Nixon called the massive restoration project a "multi-day effort." Some areas may not get power until Thursday, according to this Morning Call report.

More than 325,000 customers in PPL's 29-county coverage area experienced outages since the storm hit, making it one of the top five storms in the last 20 years in terms of the number of customers affected, he said.

About 123,000 PPL customers remained without power as of 2 p.m. Monday and 90,000 of them were in the Lehigh Valley.

"We still have system-wide 3,000 different locations where repairs have to be made," Nixon said. He said crews were working on repairs Monday that could bring back as many as 50,000 customers when completed. More than 400 crews are in the field, including 100 crews from seven other states who are helping with the effort
