Five Things to Know Today: March 23

Just wait 'til we get our hands on that groundhog...

1.  Weather: Ol' Man Winter may not be done with us yet, with the National Weather Service calling for rain and snow before 10 a.m., then rain and sleet between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., then rain after 5 p.m. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. No, I'm not kidding.

2.  Upper Milford Youth Association  spring sports signups are almost closed. According to the UMYA Web site, only t-ball and soccer are still open for registration. Soccer registration closes on March 25 and t-ball registration on March 31. After those dates all spring sports will be closed to registration.

3.  In Case you Missed It: The Emmaus Action Sports Association presented designs to Borough Council Monday night to build a at the playground across from Emmaus Public Library.

4.  Coming Up: Grab & Go: Five Family Events to do this Weekend; look for at 10 a.m.

5.  Today in History: On this day in 1775, during a speech before the second Virginia Convention, Patrick Henry uttered the oft-quoted "Give me liberty or give me death," expressing American frustration with British policy. Henry was appointed governor of Virginia by the Continental Congress after the signing of the American Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
