Five Things to Know Today: Feb. 3

Emmaus Public Works Committee will discuss the bids for the dump truck at its meeting today at 3 p.m.

1.  Weather: Mostly sunny this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service, with a high near 28, just warm enough to make it slushy. The wind will be from the northwest at 9 mph to 13 mph. Sunrise is at 7:10 and sunset at 5:22, which gives us about 2 minutes and 12 seconds more daylight than yesterday.

2.  Snow Days: Schools were closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to the weather. That makes seven snow days for East Penn this winter. Four make up days have already been scheduled: Feb. 18, June 16, June 17 and June 20. Superintendent of East Penn, Tomas Seidenberger must recommend additional days to the school board, which in turn must approve them at a board meeting. The board meets next on Feb. 14.

3.  Meetings: Emmaus Public Works Committee meet at 3 p.m. in borough hall; The Jefferson Elementary PTO meets at 6:30 p.m. in the school and tonight the Upper Milford Board of Supervisors meet at 7:30.
