Emmaus Main Street Program Announces Name Change

Emmaus Main Street Partners better reflects who group is and what it does

William Shakespeare claimed "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Similarly, the Emmaus Main Street Partners (EMSP), previously knowns as the , says the group remains committed to the economic health and vitality of the Borough of Emmaus.

According to an EMSP press release, the name change was approved by the EMSP board of directors on April 6, 2011. The new moniker, the release went on to say, was brought about by a desire to better reflect the EMSP mission, goals and values.

“Emmaus Main Street Partners more clearly defines who we are and what we do,” said Rick Zayaitz, EMSP president, “and helps recognize the many partners with whom we work.”

Credit for the development of the new name and associated logo is given to Michael and Nancy Sayre of , and the EMSP marketing committee who spent several meetings focused on the naming activity. With the realization that everything can be found ‘at Emmaus,’ the team developed a variation on the universally accepted “@” sign and created the “eeyat” as the EMPS’s official logo, according to the EMSP press release.

Emmaus Main Street Partners was established under the name Emmaus Main Street Program in 1995 to improve the community and economic climate of downtown Emmaus. The program expanded its reach to include the entire borough in 2004.
