Crime Victims Council to Offer New Support Groups in 2012

The Crime Victims Council of the Lehigh Valley will offer three new groups to support victims of abuse beginning in January 2012.

The Crime Victims Council of Lehigh Valley, Inc. (CVC) plans to offer three new support groups for victims of abuse and their families starting in January 2012.

Two of the support groups will meet at the CVC Easton office, 1555 Northampton St. One of the Easton groups will be a resiliency forum for women 18 years old or over, who have been sexually assaulted or sexually abused. It will meet the second Tuesday of every month, beginning Jan. 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. 

The other Easton support group will be for parents or caregivers of children who have been sexually assaulted or abused. This group will meet weekly for 10 sessions, starting Monday, Jan. 30, from 3 to 4:30 p.m.

An appointment for an intake interview is required prior to the first session of each group and referrals for potential participants are welcome. Call 610-250-6313 weekdays to schedule an interview. 

A peer support group for women who have been sexually assaulted or abused will be conducted at the CVC Allentown office, 801 W. Hamilton St., Suite 300, beginning Monday, Jan. 9, for 10 weeks, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Call 610-437-6610 to schedule an intake interview.
