Burn Ban in Upper Milford Until Further Notice

Upper Milford Township prohibits open burning within township limits, effective April 5.

Upper Milford Township announced a ban on open burning within the township effective Friday, April 5, according to a written statement Thursday by Upper Milford Township Manager Dan DeLong.

According to township ordinance, a joint decision by the chiefs of Upper Milford’s two fire companies - Citizen's Fire Co. and Upper Milford Western District Fire Co. No. 1.—is needed to put a ban on open burning into effect.

The statement by DeLong says, “open burning is defined as a fire, not directed through a flue, which emits air containments directly into the outdoor atmosphere.”
