  • Daytime cook at the VFW since 2008

How long have you been cooking as a career?

"At least 15 years! I worked in the medical profession for 13 years and got tired of all the complaining. I want to do something that makes people happy. It comes naturally to me, and I just enjoy it!"

Tell us about some of your past experience in the food industry.

"I ran the kitchen at Vitaulic headquarters. When I was there, I fed 300 suits breakfast and lunch every day. I was the manager and had two people working under me. I also did all the in-house catering, which Bill is considering for the Creamery."

What do you enjoy most about cooking?

"I make wicked good cakes. My favorite is my banana cake with cream cheese frosting, but everyone likes my chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. The guys at the (Emmaus Sentinels Drum and Bugle) Corps say they'll play better with chocolate cake."

What's the best part about working at the Creamery on Main?

  • That it's the daytime.
  • It stays busy and there is always something to do.
  • We're adding brunches and deli sandwiches, so the menu is constantly changing.

For those new to the Creamery, what would you recommend from the menu?

"The Jules Burger because I love garlic and there's garlic in the mayo!"

What do you love about Emmaus?

"The community. When I pull into the Triangle to go to work, I know I'm home. It hits me. I have so many fond memories ... Dino's, the Triangle Shop, the Five and Dime."

In what others ways are you active in Emmaus?

"I reunited the in January 2007. They started in 1924 and disbanded in 1974. My dad was in the Corps when I was young, and that's when I fell in love.

"I got a phone call in 2007 to be on the Emmaus Anniversary Committee, but I said, 'Let me give you the Emmaus Sentinels.' We had 30 horns, 20 drummers, and 15 color guards. I was the president until a month ago. I'm still very active.

"I march with four Corps. For two, I play the cymbals, and for the other two I'm the drum major. We practice once a month, do parades and play the national anthem at an Iron Pigs game once a year."

What's your favorite saying?

"I like to cook, but I LOVE to bake!"
